Music has been used many different ways in the Bible. It has been used to calm kings, take men into battle, and dedicate the Temple. In fact, the Bible makes mention of music in one form or another some 839 times. Here at Pleasantview Baptist Church we use music to call people together for worship and to calm the hearts of the congregation before the message is given. Our Music Ministry desires to further enhance the mission of the Pleasantview Baptist Church, which is "...making and maturing disciples for Jesus Christ, both at home and around the world..." through the singing and playing of music. We have several different opportunities for service through the Ministry of Music: Sanctuary Choir The Sanctuary Choir, consisting of high school age through adult, is the cornerstone of our Music Ministry. Our choir has a membership of 50 and growing. Our choir sings in every Sunday morning and evening service. We also put on two major productions per year at Easter and Christmas. Our rehearsals are on Sundays at 5:00PM, prior to the evening service. Children's Choir Welcome to the Children's Choir portion of PBC website. The choir is under the direction of Heather Fobar and some of the finest PBC volunteers. The age range starts with Pre-K 4 and ends at 6th grade. We provide two classrooms, for the purpose of the children, to have an age appropriate environment. * For example:Pre-K 4 to Kinder- Class 1Teacher: Cathy Baldridge Class 1 has 2 assistant teachers * 1st- 6th grade- Class 2 Teacher: Anita Fagerberg Class 2 has 1-2 assistant teachers. We meet each Wednesday @7pm* for one semester (4-5 months) o 1st semester: September to December o 2nd semester: January to May The children have an end of the semester project to complete; usually a Christmas and Easter project. Starting in May or June and going through to the month of August, the students no longer attend Children's Choir due to summer projects such as VBS, summer camp, and other children activities. Rehearsals will be on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 10:30am Special Groups There are several people from the Sanctuary Choir Ministry that have become involved in the Special Music Ministry, singing solos and in groups. We have several small groups (duets, trios, etc.) that rehearse on their own. Drama Ministry Collaborating with the Music Ministry is the Drama Ministry headed. This involves people in the ministry that may not otherwise involve themselves in the Music Ministry. There are many people that support this ministry that are never seen under the spotlights: costume crew, make-up crew, lighting crew, set crew, prop crew, etc. What a great way to use a person's artistic talents to the glory of God! Other areas available to serve are the Video Ministry and the Sound Ministry, a most critical aspect of the worship service. As you can see, there are many areas to serve in the Music Ministry of the Pleasantview Baptist Church. Come worship and serve the Lord with us!
