D.L. Moody is a native Texan.  He grew up in Lamar County , north of Paris Texas .  He graduated from North Lamar High School in 1977.  He graduated from Arlington Baptist College with a BA in 1983.  He completed a Masters Degree at Moody Graduate School in Chicago , IL and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Covington Theological Seminary.

Pastor Moody has had pastorates in Paris, Texas (6 years), served in administration of Arlington Baptist College for 16 years,12 years as Dean of Students, and has been the pastor of Pleasantview Baptist Church, Arlington, TX since 1994 (ten of these years were concurrent with position at Arlington Baptist).  He continues to teach on faculty in the pastoral ministry department at ABC.

He lives in Mansfield , Texas with his wife (Sherry) of 30 years and two children – Joshua and Hali. Hali has recently graduated from Fellowship Academy and is now attending TCC in the Cornerstone Honors program working on obtaining a degree in Interior Design. She is also the head Jr High volleyball/Cheerleading coach at Fellowship Academy. Josh is a Jr. High teacher, Head Jr. High football coach, special teams coach for Varsity football, and Jr. High boys basketball coach at Fellowship Academy. He is attending Arlington Baptist College working on a degree in Education.
